A RACE OF POSITIONING
The past weekend we had two races. Souvenir Louison Bobet & Nantes-Segrè, both with a bit of undulating terrain (160KM).
Louison Bobet started of very hard with quite a few riders being caught out in the thick of the action early on. But re-grouped quickly as the peleton had a breather with teams assessing one another. The break managed to escape after a long fought 80kms of racing with another 80km to go. VC Pays de Loudeac had the responsibility of leading the peleton as they missed out with representation ahead. We had Florian Barket ahead with Jules Roueil crossing oer later on to make it two.
Meanwhile behind I had the plessure of riding an XS Bike after my battery left me stranded. But none the less, had a long hard chase back to join a reduced peleton. Amateur mistake 101. Have a look below.
After the break established and Loudeac not being able to bring the break back there where many attacks. I joined a small group in pursuit of the break. After a long hard chase we eventually finished 20-30sec off eventual winner winner Mathieu Le Lavandier of Sojasun. I managed 21st in the end.
Here we are smashing it up the longest Climb of the day but with little co-opperation we where broughT back quite quickly.
NANTES-SEGRE. (160KM)
Unfortuanately from my side there is not much to say aboout the race. It was mostly headwind the first 75km. As we approached a small town there was a narrow sharp right hand turn which caught many riders out.
From there on we where on the back foot chasing most of the time. After about 130kms we came close to closing the gap but ran out of steam 15 seconds short. We had one Teammate up there Adrien Leboucher who managed 10th.
Me and my teammate Jules nearly bridged the gap but by now my legs blew up in peaces feeling the fatigue of the previous days effort 10seconds short of catching the group ahead.
I managed 25th at the end of the day behind the eventual winner Paul Ourselin Vendee U.
